The Valencia region is home to many Natural Parks, Areas of Special Scientific Interest, including some of Europe´s most important natural habitats.
They include mountain ranges, vast areas of rolling forested hills, deep river canyons, coastal wetlands, marshes and ancient forests.
Such a diverse habitat range not only provides breeding or wintering grounds, but the geographical location of the Valencia region places it right on a major flyway for migrating birds.
The coastal wetland, mountains, forested and steppe areas provide breeding grounds for many species… Collared Pratincole, Elegant Tern, Purple Swamphen, Bonelli’s Eagles, Egyptian Vulture, Alpine Swift, White Headed Duck, Marbled Teal, Great Bustard, Little Bustard and Black-bellied Sandgrouse.
